On behalf of Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khouli, University’s Vice President for Female Student Affairs, the “Heritage and Legacy” festival and the exhibition attached to it were attended by Dr. Fareedah bint Muhammad Al-Ghamdi, Vice Dean of University Studies. The event, which was held under the theme “Homeland through Our Eyes,” was organized by the Vice Deanship of Student Affairs for Student Activities and Training. Present in the event were the female vice deans of student affairs: Dr. Kholoud bint Muhammad Abu Al-Naja, Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Activities and Training; Dr. Amaal bint Omar Sendi, Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Guidance, Counseling, and Community Partnership; and Dr. Mona bint Muhammad Hejji, Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Support. Also present were the female vice deans of the backing deanships; faculty members; and female students. The event lasted for a week, starting from Rajab 8, 1439 AH, at Al-Jawharah Hall in the Zaher-based female student premises.
The cultural festival started with a welcome introduction that was followed by a beautiful recitation of verses from the Holy Quran before the royal anthem was played. Then, there was a poem entitled “شيخنا سلمان” (Our Leader Salman). After that, Dr. Abu Al-Naja, Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Student Activities and Training, made a speech in which she welcomed the attendees and talked about the value of the KSA’s cultural legacy that depicts its glorious past; accentuates its historical identity; and reinforces its national status from the past through to the present and into the future so such great legacy can remain existent for the next generations. She further gave many thanks to Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, Dean of Student Affairs, for his care and the support he provides to this kind of events for the students of the University.
Afterward, a folkloric singing segment depicting the originality of the past and the modernity of the present under the title “شيخنا سلمان” (Our Leader Salman) was presented. Then, a play telling about the cultures of the KSA regions was performed by female students from Umm Al-Qura University. And finally there was a singing operetta entitled “أرضنا غيوم المعالي” (Our Land Is a Cloud High in the Sky); this was accompanied by a visual presentation on the imams and kings of the KSA throughout the long history of Saudi Arabia.
At the end of the event, Dr. Al-Ghamdi, Vice Dean of University Studies, toured the exhibition which included corners for the popular heritage of Saudi Arabia as well as interactive presentations and panels telling about the heritage of the past and the modernity of the times through numerous stunning contributions and creative ideas.
