The Dean of the College of Social Sciences in Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Mohamed bin Ahmed BaSagr launched the 4th Scientific Meeting of the College's male and female students which included 96 participations in preparation for the different streams of the 9th Meeting of the Student to be held by the university in the coming period. The launching ceremony, which took place at the college of education's celebrations hall in Abdyia, was attended by the College Vice Deans and Heads of the Departments and was transmitted via the closed TV to Al-Jawhara Hall in Al-Zahir.
At the commencement of the meeting the coordinator of the scientific meeting, Dr. Al-Sayed Abdul-Hameed delivered a speech in which he explained the preparations made for the meeting since an early time via the awareness program in the lectures and social media websites. He indicated that the participation for the different departments of the college including; social sciences, media, geography, English language, amounted to 96. 49 from males section and 47 from females section. He explained that the participation is focused on research tracks, community service, awareness videos, personal diction, photography, paintings, plastic drawing and Investigative journalism.
He explained that participation of the different departments was as following; social work 33, Media 42, Geography 19 and English language 2. He then lauded the support and directive of the college dean Dr. Mohamed BaSagr and the heads of the departments for their interaction with the contest.
After that, the College Dean Dr. Mohamed BaSager delivered his speech in which he praised the support and directives of the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas which contributed to providing proper education environment in line with the university status. He added that the college in its 4th year has become accustomed to celebrating the role models of its male and female students indicating that the scientific meeting program is intended to stimulate students to contribute to the scientific renaissance by harnessing their scientific outcome in research projects and creative works in a number of specialties besides providing students with a number of academic skills, raising their scientific and cultural level and boosting spirit of scientific competition amongst them.
He added that the meeting also contributes to developing students communications and dialogue skills, leadership skills, building bridges of scientific, social and cultural communication between university students. He then praised the efforts exerted by the heads of the departments and faculty members for the motivational programs provided for students and contributed to coming up with such innovative works in line with the college's scientific and research status.
After that, the participants presented their works.
