Makkah Mayor Osama Al-Bar chaired a meeting on Thursday with a delegation of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) to discuss means to boost cooperation and to build a strategic partnership between the Holy Makkah Municipality and the university.
The UQU's delegation included officials from the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture. According to the meeting, the municipality wants researches and studies made by the college to be applied in service community projects.
Al-Bar asserted that the municipality is keen on providing high-quality services to improve slums and to use the UQU's experiences and studies in achieving goals. These goals include project development, community partnerships in addition to maintaining cooperation between different entities, he said, noting the municipality and the university are strongly tied together with strategic partnerships.
During the meeting, a number of graduates gave presentations on their projects and ways to maximize the benefits. The projects included schemes for regions in Makkah which explained the development processes in Al Salamah neighborhood, Al Zohoor alley, Otaibiah locality,...etc.
Al-Bar voiced admiration, saying he is eagerly expecting application of these projects in the future. The presented schemes and projects are patented and developed by enlightened elite. He renewed enthusiastic support to cooperation between the municipality and the university, saying he endeavors to activate direct contact lines with the scientific entities, to jointly work for launching initiatives and to develop mechanism that serve the public.
