The number of vehicles in the city of Makkah during the Holy Month of Ramadan increases to reach its peak during prayer and shopping times, Spokesman for Makkah Traffic Police Lt. Col. Fawzy said, noting the number increases gradually starting from Al Asr prayer up to the midnight.
All vehicles are allowed into streets surrounding the Holy Mosque of Makkah except for heavy trucks. Only, heavy dustcarts and hotel service trucks may use these roads during peak times, he said. The traffic police has taken measures to deny entry of heavy truck into the central area during prayer times and while worshipers flocking out the mosques, he said.
