The Standing Committee for Training and Scholarships held its 23rd  meeting for the academic year 1436/1437H on Wednesday, Sha'ban 25, 1437H. Convened by the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Thamer bin Hemdan al-Harbi, the meeting was attended by the Supervisor General of Scholarships, Dr. Ahmed bin Youssef Barqawi, and all other committee members. 

The committee secretary, Mr. Wael Abdulraziq Shaldoom, stated that topics on the agenda were discussed, coming up with appropriate recommendations.

The recommendations of the meeting were as follows:

1. Twenty teaching assistants were recommended to get scholarships.
2. Three students were recommended to have their scholarship terminated.
3. Two students were recommended to have their countries of scholarships changed.
4. Four students were recommended to change the universities of their scholarships.
5. One student was recommended to change the major of his scholarship.
6. Two students were recommended to extend their undergraduate scholarships. 
7. Eight students were recommended to extend their scholarships to enroll in a PhD program.
8. Seven students were recommended to extend their scholarships to study a foreign language.
