The Applied Sciences College’s Chemistry Department organized a scientific trip for the female students to the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kaaba in Mecca, on Thursday, 3/4/1439 AH, under the supervision of the department’s vice president, and the participation of a number of faculty members.
This trip comes within the activities of the Social Responsibility Committee in the department, which aims to help the students indentify the stages of manufacturing the covering of the Kaaba, dyeing of raw materials and different laboratory tests.
They were received by Mr. Ahmed Baanter, public relations agent, who was in charge of the introductory tour to the departments, which included the belt section, the manual weaving section, the automatic fabric, the grinder, and the chemical laboratory. During the tour, the students listened to a detailed explanation of the mechanics of the factory from the department supervisors.
The visit ended with a meeting with the director of the factory, Dr. Mohammed Bagouda, who in turn welcomed the female students and members of the teaching staff, and briefed them on the history of the factory, the stages of manufacturing the covering of the Kaaba as well as the future plans.
