UQU Pharmacy and Innovation Clubs Conclude Awareness Campaign Titled" Use it Properly"

Deanship of Students Affairs at Um Al-Qura University represented by Pharmacy and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Clubs  concluded on Friday evening December 15, 2017 the awareness campaign under the theme of " Misuse of Antibiotics and raising awareness for chronic headache", within the campaign of  " Use it correctly". Present in event organized at Al-Diyafa enter in Makkah, was the Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Omar Sonbol.  

 

The campaign is sought to raise awareness of community members about the antibiotics and how to use them correctly besides defining harms caused in case of using them improperly without medical prescription. The campaign also included an awareness lecture on the chronic headache and how to get cured of it.    

 

Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Omar Sonbol explained that these campaigns are intended to stimulate students to participate in the extracurricular activities, harness their capacities and provide them with the necessary skills in their specialties. He added the Deanship of Students Affairs undertakes only a supervisory role on the plans carried out by students besides facilitating all procedures and overseeing the students clubs.

 

In turn, Dean of Pharmacy College Dr. Ahmed BabalGhaith said such campaigns are intended to show community contribution of the students to serve their community and raise awareness of community members on such misuses and its negative impacts on community. He lauded support and attention of UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas and his lasting support provided for all activities and programs of the college. He also extended his thanks to Deanship of Students Affairs for the support provided for the students activities in the college, extending his thanks to all male and f3emale students for their efforts in organizing this campaign. Additionally, he praised students exerted efforts to deliver correct information and raise awareness of the community using different methods. 

 

It should be mentioned that the campaign included several corners such as; Innovation Club Activities Overview,  What are antibiotics and its mistaken usages, antibiotics and pregnancy and its effects on the fetus, Headache types and treatment, Al-Dawaa Charity Society, Saudi Stem Cells Donor Registry of the National Guards Hospital, Deanship of e-Learning, Pharmaceutical Science Research Center at the Deanship of Scientific Research to measure extent of community awareness using a questionnaire titled: "Antibiotics.. disease and cure".  

 

The campaign also included technology corner in collaboration with the Deanship of e-Learning and Distance Education under the supervision of the Deanship Vice Dean Dr. Yassir Al-Hazmi, and the female Vice Dean Dr. Hanaa Al-Yamani. It included the latest technologies presenting scientific material of antibiotics and headache awareness in an innovative manner by using  Enhanced Reality Technology and ChatBots.

 

Further, the Coordinator of Saudi Stem Cells Donors Registry Dr. Loai Hussein Hanif said their participation with the Pharmacy Club is not the first of its type revealing that they intended to deliver the message of the registry in providing awareness to the community on the importance of the stem cells donation to serve patients with leukemia and lymphoma so as for everyone to contribute to help needy people by matching stem cells whereas the registry endeavors to collect the largest number of stem cells from the donors in the region.  

 

At the conclusion all the participants, supporters and sponsors of the campaign were honored.
