President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas paid an inspection visit to the land allocated for the university branch in Al-Lith which has an area of 2.7 million square meters. He was accompanied by the UQU Vice President for Branches Dr. Abdul-Majeed bin Saeed Al-Ghamdi, Dean of Al-Lith University College Dr. Mohamed bin Abdullah Al-Malki, Deans of Supportive Deanships, Directors of Security Departments, Services, Facilities and Public Relations and Media.
Meanwhile, Dr. Assas ordered organization of an urgent workshop to identify and study needs of the colleges and scientific departments of the university branch in Al-Lith. The workshop includes a number of faculty members, employees and male and female students to help provide proper educational environment and forward recommendations of the workshop to his excellency.
At the commencement of his visit to the university branch in Al-Lith, Dr. Assas met with the female students via the Closed TV Circuit and the male students in the Jamoum college's theatre.
He said "thanks to the support of our wise government, the university has allocated all its technical and human resources and capacities to provide the most upgraded educational services for male and female students besides overcoming all obstacles facing their educational march and providing proper environment to enable them learning properly".
He praised the directives of the Advisor to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, and the Deputy Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bander and their follow up for the projects and activities of the university at its headquarters in Makkah and its branches at Jamoum, Al-Lith, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah Provinces. He also praised follow-up of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Eesa to programs and activities of the university in all its branches thus contributing to the excellence of its academic programs.
He added that the university branch in Al-Lith has a number of scientific majors, which fit the requirements of the labor market in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030. He said the university's different colleges and departments accommodate more than 8,000 students, who study all aspects of the Arabic language and sciences, sharia studies, engineering and health studies, English language, media, social work, family education in addition to the scientific specialization such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering, and computer . He praised efforts of the college deans and staff, which has positive effect on the educational environment in accordance with the highest educational standards, which coincides with the scientific status of the Umm Al-Qura University.
He went on to add that distance learning programs in the university will be launched during the coming academic year 1439/1440 H indicating that e-learning environment in the university has been prepared an about 5 thousand virtual halls have been provided with latest educational technologies and capacities.
