Under the auspices of Dr. Samir bin Hasan Mohamed Quary, the Head of the Department of Biology, and with the presence of all the teaching staff members and some students; as a part of the scientific activities’ program of the first semester, Dr. Alaa Ahmed Shakib Gabbour gave a lecture titled: (Plants Are drugs and Destruction)
The seminar tackled many topics, including: The benefits and caveats of using the most important herbs locally and internationally; the hazards of herbal mixtures; the danger of the unregulated herbal remedies; a presentation for the impact of herbs on the medications being taken; the effect of herbs on the body functions and on the results of medical tests; the necessity of stopping using herbs before surgeries; the possible reaction between the chemical compounds of the herbs when taken all at once; and the way and longer period of using these herbs.
