President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M’atooq bin Bakri Assas launched postponement and withdrawal services via the university electronic portal in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Sorouji, Dean of Admission and Registration Dr. Hashim Al-Samadani, Dean of Information Technology Dr. Majid Al-Qathami, the Vice-Dean for Electronic Transactions, Dr. Atef Al-Hujaili, Vice Dean of Admission and Registration Dr. Khalid bin Thmair Al-Thaqafi, and the Vice Dean of Admission and Registration for Academic Affairs Dr. Hussam bin Hassan Al-Hakami and the officers of registration in the Deanship of Admission and Registration. The launching ceremony took place at his office in the university campus in Abdiya.
Dr. Assas reiterated the importance of keeping pace with the e-service evolution as a main tool of development at the university. He said extensive changes swept the website to make it one of the best international quadrilingual sites urging the students to follow up the university schedule to take advantage of these services via the e-portal system. He then lauded the efforts undertaken by the parties involved in developing e-services system indicating that the university has gone further in providing e-services in line with the highest standards and specifications using the easiest ways for the beneficiaries in a response to the directives of our wise leadership.
Within the same vein, the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rahsad Al-Sorouji praised the support and directives of the UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas for harnessing the e-services for the benefit of the university male and female affiliates thus making all academic transactions including; registration, deletion, addition, withdrawal and postponement available electronically to enable the students manage them by themselves and once the service is requested, its approval or rejection will be received automatically.
For his part, the Dean of Admission and Registration Dr. Hashim Al-Samadani said the procedures of withdrawal or postponement were previously taking place by such mean of printing the form, approving it from the department and then the form will be revised and processed by the Deanship of Admission and Registration. He added that proceeding from the keenness of the deanship in line with the directives and follow up of the UQU President Dr. Assas the postponement and withdrawal services are developed to take place electronically in collaboration with the Deanship of Information Technology to enable student use these services electronically via their e-portals without the need to refer to the Department or the Deanship of Admission and Registration.
After that, Dr. Al-Samadani reviewed the electronically available services for students including; Admission, external transfer, Specialization auto-change, major selection for the preparatory year students, grade amendment form (F,P), e-clearance service, deletion and addition, course withdrawal, study hall requests, users creations, and password restoration for oracle users for the faculty members and employees. He added that the deanship is working to change all its procedures to become electronically to service students in line with the vision and directives of the deanship.
