On Tuesday, Sha'aban 24, 1437H, the Umm Al-Qura University's College of Judicial Studies and Regulations launched the Saudi Scientific Society for Waqf at the university's headquarters. It was attended by Dr. Bakry bin Maatouq Assas, UQU's President and Dr. Saud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad Al Shuraim, the college's Dean, in addition to a number of academics and interested people in the endowments field.
Dr. Saud Al Shuraim said that the Saudi Scientific Society for Waqf is simulating a reality and explaining that there is a mobility of awareness and renewable culture towards endowments, that why the College of Judicial Studies was keen on proceeding to establish that Society and prepare for it early, to have a contribution in that big field.
Al Shuraim added that the Society will focus on what is related to the scientific aspect, which achieves development of its systems, expansion of its scopes and awareness to the people. He pinpointed that the Society aims at the endowment itself, which means that it includes everyone who is related to it and will not take one side or the other, but will offer a scientific side that is needed by everyone who is related to the endowment.
The Dean of the College of Judicial Studies disclosed that the Society will work on offering researches and specialized studies in the field of endowments, in addition to the issuance of a precise scientific magazine twice a year, God willing. Moreover, the Society will comply with holding workshops for exchanging thoughts and knowledge, which achieve benefit and leadership to the endowments.
On the other side, the Saudi Scientific Society for Waqf held its first general assembly, where the board members were elected and were as follows: Dr. Saud ibn Ibrahim Al Shuraim, Dr. Hamad M. al-Ghammas, Dr. Ali bin Yusuf Al Zahrani, Dr. Khaled al-Shamrani, Dr. Abdurrahman Aljerawy, Sater Aljuaed, Dr. Omar Almobty and Sheikh Nawaf Aal Ghalib.
The elected board held its first meeting, named Dr. Al Shuraim as its Chairperson and elected Dr. Abdurrahman Aljerawy as his Deputy Chairperson.
