Under the sponsorship of the head of the Biology Department, Dr. Samir bin Hassan Qari, and in the presence of all Faculty Members and a number of students, Dr. Abdulrahman Haidar from the Department of Computer has delivered a lecture under the title "Information Tools from Nature Simulation to Problem Solving". The seminar came as part of the scientific activities program of the first semester.

The seminar addressed several elements, including: bioinformatics: definition and presentation of cooperation; a nature simulation: inspired from bio-computing tools, bioinformatics main applications; and a case study: protein structure prediction.

As the seminar came to a close, the head of the department gave Dr. Haidar a thanks and appreciation certificate.

Noteworthy:

"Bioinformatics" is a multidisciplinary research field that contains various computing and mathematical tools to solve many of the biological problems that could be faced in practice. Bioinformatics brings together various research disciplines, including computer science, mathematics, and statistics in order to represent, analyze and interpret biological data.

The field of computer science has added a great deal of richness into solving many mathematical biology problems. On the other hand, there are several effective computing issues whose tools are inspired by smart biological systems. These bio-inspired tools and their successful applications are used for solving the different difficult problems in the bioinformatics application and other applications as well.

The most successful bio-tools inspired from algorithms are genetic matters, the optimal ant colony, artificial neural networks, optimal corpuscula flock, adaptive and artificial memory programming, and immune systems. The light is shed on the main structure of these bio-inspired tools and applying them in solving bioinformatics application.
