Deanship of University Development and Quality at Umm Al-Qura University held a workshop to explain plans and mechanism of implementing the 4th standards of institutional accreditation of the university, in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi, UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, the Head of 4th Standard Committee Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Al-Sorouji, Deans of Colleges and relevant supportive Deanships besdies a number of faculty members and employees. The workshop took place at King Abdul-Aziz historical hall in Abdyia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi said the university has so far achieved 60% of its plan to obtain the institutional accreditation form the National Commission for Institutional Accreditation by the end of this academic year 1438/1439 H. He indicated that the institutional accreditation standards were classified to 11 standards and a number of committee were formed including the UQU Vice Presidents, College Deans and Department Directors.
He added that the university embraces about 7 thousand faculty members and employees and more than 120 thousand students in its main campus in Makkah and its branches in Jamoum, Al-Lith, Adhm and Al-Qunfudhah. "Such workload couldn't be achieved without the support provided to the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship represented by the Deanship of University Development and Quality, by the UQU President Dr. Assas", he expounded praising the cooperation of the relevant parties in implementing standards of institutional accreditation according to the set strategic plan.
For his part, the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, the Head of the 4th Standard Committee Dr. Abdul-Aziz bin Rashad Al-Sorouji underlined the importance of the workshop in supporting efforts of preparing requirements of the institutional accreditation with the approaching of the last phase of accreditation. He added that the 4th standard includes five sub-committees in the academic programs provided by the university in the fields of sharia, Arabic language, medical and engineering sciences, computer and applied sciences besides the specialties of the college of education and humanity studies and the branch colleges.
Dr. Al-Sorouji said a committee was formed to revise the mechanism of assessing faculty members including deanships of development, admission and registration, and students affairs . This committee he said is tasked with setting a unified vision to be presented before the UQU Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research for consultation with a view of setting this standard within the standards of promoting faculty member. He then lauded the cooperation of the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship and all the related authorities in order to achieve the requirements of achieving the 4th standards in the set time.
Within the same vein, the Dean of University Development and Quality Dr. Mohamed Jaafar Thabit said this workshop comes within the work plan of the deanship to provide the technical support and accelerate works of the concerned committees in the field of institutional accreditation. He pointed out that the meeting of the advisory committee held recently under the chairmanship of UQU president reviewed the status of the institutional accreditation and the percent of the achievement made by the committees working on the executive plan. He then lauded the support provided by the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani Ghazi for the efforts undertaken by the Deanship to obtain the institutional accreditation.
