The College of Public Health and Health Informatics at Umm Al-Qura University organized an awareness program on the occasion of the World Diabetes Day under the slogan "Early Detection and Prevention of Diabetes Risks", on Sunday Safar 23, 1439 H corresponding to November 12, 2017 at the Headquarters of the Department of Faculty Members and Employees Affairs in Azizia. The event was attended by the Dean of the College Dr. Waheeb bin Dakheelullah Al-Harbi, the Director of Faculty Members and Employees Affairs, besides the employees of the Department and a number of visitors including faculty members and administrative officers. The program included a corner for early detection of diabetes, a corner for disease brochures and leaflets, a corner on raising awareness regarding diabetes, prevention means, and the importance of early detection which will help reduce these risks. The program took place under the supervision of Mohamed Osama Noor, Dr. Salahuldeen Mohamed Alawna (from the department of Health Awareness and Promotion), with the participation of a number of students representing the department and the health club in the college. During the day, new cases of diseases were detected and the necessary counselling was given to them.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the College Dr. Waheeb Al-Harbi said the college is very keen to activate the world health days to serve the community and prevent the risks of various diseases besides boosting students capacities, spreading spirit of participation amongst them and highlighting their importance role in upgrading the community health.
