UQU President Receives "Accreditation: Confident Steps towards Quality" Brochure

UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Ma'touq Bakri Assas, received the Accreditation: Confident Steps towards Quality brochure  from the Vice-president of Development and Entrepreneurship and Deputy-head of the Supreme Committee for Institutional Accreditation, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi. The brochure is designed to shed light on the nature of institutional accreditation and its requirements. The meeting took place at the UQU President's office - Abbideyah campus.

Ghazi introduced the accreditation procedures for national universities to obtain institutional and academic accreditation. He indicated that the brochure detailed all the academic accreditation procedures for UQU leaders, faculty members and staff. It also lists the concepts and terminology of academic accreditation, and the roles of university staff and units in obtaining academic accreditation.

Additionally, the brochure explains the relationship between institutional and program accreditations, the stages of program accreditation, academic accreditation standards, quality assurance system, self-evaluation, preparation for internal and external reviews, and the benefits of academic accreditation for research and educational system. Ghazi stated that the brochure is to be distributed to all UQU staff, including: academic leaderships, administrative workers, faculty members and students to help spread awareness of accreditation process as UQU seeks to obtain it. In this respect, he lauded the efforts and directives of the UQU president and thanked the Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Mohamed Gaffar Thabit, the former Vice-dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Amina Al-Ahmadi, and the deanship's advisors for developing the brochure.

On his side, Assas commended the confident steps taken by the Vice-presidency of Development and Entrepreneurship towards obtaining academic and institutional accreditation in order for UQU to be at par with world-class universities with regards to quality standards. He pointed out that the brochure contributes to spreading quality culture and awareness of accreditation's role in providing quality programs to students that hone their skills for job market in line with Vision 2030. Finally, he called upon the UQU vice-presidencies, deanships, and administrations to cooperate for achieving the accreditation goals.
