Wadi Makkah Co. and founders of (Tawseel), one of Wadi Makkah startups, participated in the international conference and fair, Startup Istanbul 2017 in Turkey during 20 -23 Oct, 2017. It's worth mentioning that the event connects innovative startups with investors and clients. The fair hosts over 100 startups from 70 countries across the world where investors and entrepreneurs gather for business. Tawseel was shortlisted to be one of the top 15 technical startups participating in Startup Istanbul, topping 20 thousand startups.
The UQU Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship and the Vice-chairman of Wadi Makkah Co., Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, reiterated Wadi Makkah startups' keenness to take part in such forums that attract investors and presents a platform for emerging enterprises to introduce themselves regionally and internationally. Ghazi then extended thanks to the UQU President and Wadi Makkah Co. Chairman, Dr. Baki Matouq Assas for his major support to innovative startups.
On his part, Wadi Makkah Co. CEO, Dr. Faisal bin Ahmed Allaf, maintained that this world fair presents a great opportunity to Wadi Makkah startups to exchange experiences with other startup founders around the world and meet with several investors and clients. Allaf was proud to announce that Wadi Makkah startups managed to attract a number of investors. He thanked the UQU president and the Vice-dean of Development and Entrepreneurship for their support to Wadi Makkah entrepreneurs.
It's worth mentioning that Wadi Makkah delegation to Startup Istanbul included the UQU Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship and the Vice-chairman of Wadi Makkah Co., Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, Wadi Makkah Co. CEO, Dr. Faisal bin Ahmed Allaf, and Tawseel founders (Dr. Salih Ba-Slama and Dr. Fawaz Saad Anas Ba-Salama). The activities of this year's fair revolved around communication and establishment of business relationships. A selection of esteemed speakers and investors addressed the future of startups in view of investment opportunities; investment in startups; and the impact of such investment on knowledge economy.
