Intern dentists at the College of Dentistry at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) have paid visit to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. The visit was organized under the supervision of the Internship Program Supervisor, Dr. Alaa Makki, in collaboration with the Graduates Unit Supervisors, Dr. Waleed Tagou, Dr. Mustafa Tashkindi and Dr. Rayan Sharkah, whom were hosted by Dr. Sherif Maatouq Hala, Microbiology and Mutation Researcher at the university.
The scientific trip was initiated with a visit to the Museum of Science and Technology in Islam at the university, which aims at introducing the ancient historical basis, on which the university was built, to researchers and university scientists, portraying the shinning footsteps of the pioneers whom are followed, and increasing awareness of the contributions of Muslim scientists in sciences and technology. Furthermore, the museum contains replicas prove that education and learning were important parts in the lives of Muslims.
Following, the intern dentists went to the laboratories and the research centers where scientists and engineers from all over the world, and from all specialties, work to find solutions to the most complicated scientific, health and social problems that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the entire world, face. Noteworthy, the intern dentists were impressed by the modern global technologies and the advanced devices that are available in the labs to serve the scientific researches in all fields, and help researchers to make important discoveries and find vital solutions and applications.
As the visit drew to a close, the dentists listened to a detailed explanation on how to enroll at the university and how to submit applications of admission. Besides, they got introduced to the most important annual events held at the university and the sports and leisure facilities of this unique scientific edifice.
For his part, the Dean of the college, Dr. Muhammad Bin Mustafa Biyari, pointed out that the college is eager to empower and encourage its graduates to have big goals in life after the completion of their bachelor degrees, and supporting them to conduct researches and studies on the most important problems with passion and freedom, through offering them the opportunity to visit such scientific edifices in home country and introducing them to their inspirational scientific centers. He also stressed that King Abdullah University of Science and Technology is the best example for the support and tribute this country offer to science and scientists.
At last, Dr. Biyari praised the continued support of the UQU President, Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Assas, to the university students. He also extended thanks to the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Bin Muhammad Al-Eissi, for providing all needed facilities and his eagerness to create an appropriate educational and research environment for our students, under the leadership of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, which provides generous support and kind auspices to the education sector.
