The UQU President, Dr. Bakri bin Ma'touq Assas inaugurated Committees and Councils Management E-System via the E-service portal at his office in Al-Abbideyah Campus. The system is to allow the formation and scheduling of committees electronically. Present were the Vice-president, Dr. Yasser bin Soliman Shoushou, Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani bin Othman Ghazi, Vice-president for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, Vice-president for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashad Srouji, and the Dean of Information Technology, Dr. Majed Al-Qathami.
In this regard, Al-Qathami overviewed the infrastructure projects report that covered Oracle servers, apps, network components, servers and system license, noting that the e-services portal managed to accommodate over 39k students at the time of scheduling first semester timetables for the current academic year although it can host over 60k users per second. He indicated that those electronic services included: courses deletion for 92k students; division change for 83k students; course addition for 16k students; and 4 mn requests. Al-Qathami indicated that thanks to the support of the UQU President and and the follow-up of the Vice-president for Development and Entrepreneurship, the Deanship of Information Technology is to implement a pack of e-services for all beneficiaries this year.
On his part, Assas lauded the support UQU receives from the wise government, which enabled it to achieve excellence in several programs in accordance with international standards, noting that before this e-service was started, there were a series of e-services designed for UQU staff that is part of the electronic transformation of transactions in the Kingdom. Further, he said that the electronic services executed under supervision of the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed Al-Issa, benefit over 120k of staff, faculty members and students in Makkah, Jumoum, Al-Laith, Adham, and Qunfudah. Users can use those self-services to finish their transactions without the need to head to the concerned bodies, saving time and effort.
