The Acting Director of the Um Al-Qura University; and the University Postgraduate Studies Department Deputy, Prof. Samr Al-harbi received the external audit team of the German Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) with the aim of auditing the programs of each of the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry and College of Pharmacology.
Among the recipients were the University Academic Development and Society Service Division Deputy, Prof. Hani ibn Osman Ghazi; the Dean of the Academic Development and Quality; Prof. Mohamed ibn Gha’afr Sabit; and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Anmar Nasser; and the Dean of the College of Pharmacology, Prof. Ra’ad Gastiniah and the medical colleges’ deputies. They were received at the office of the Acting Director of the University in the university town in Abidiah, on Monday, May 2nd, 2016.
Still, the Acting Director of the University welcomed the German academic accreditation team, lauding the great support which the Director of the University, Prof. Bakri ibn Ma’atuq A’assas lends for the development efforts in the University. Further, he praised his interest in having the German team visit result in issuing several recommendations serving the academic system, and helping the medical colleges be awarded the international academic accreditation certificate.
Similarly, the University Deputy for Academic Development and Society Service, Prof. Hani Ghazi expressed his happiness and satisfaction for the highly-praised level the University’s medical colleges has achieved. He went on lauding the efforts made by the colleges’ deans, and what they exert for developing and being awarded the international academic accreditation.
Further, Prof. Hani Gazi pointed out that given the support it receives from the Director of the University, Prof. Bakri ibn Ma’atuq A’assas, the University’s Academic Development and Society Service works on academically accrediting the entire colleges of the University within the next two years, as well as accrediting the University as an institution within the next year. This is in line with the plan set by the Division. He also underlined that the goal is not only to be awarded the academic accreditation but live up to the quality of the programs the University provides.
Within the same context, the Dean of the University Development and Quality Division, Prof. Mohamed Ga’afar Sabit made clear that having the medical colleges obtain the academic accreditation comes as part of an ambitious plan set by the University’s Division of the Academic Development and Society Service and the Deanship of the University Development and Quality for having the entire University’s programs awarded the academic accreditation within two years.
He also noted that the German team visit is to last for two days. It is to focus on inspecting all the facilities of the medical colleges and their equipment. Similarly, the team is to hold meeting with the colleges’ leadership, academic staff members and students, as well as what has been mentioned in the self-study reports in terms of data related to each college. Afterwards, the accreditation decision taken by the German Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) Board is made within work period ranging from 3-4 months as of now.
