President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas said selecting King Salman as Islamic personality of the year by Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) in its 21st session for the year 1438 H comes in recognition of the great services he provides for the Holy Mosques, the holy sites and for Muslims in general in the outskirts of the earth, his noble traditions and noble positions as well as the development of the Islamic work that achieves the goals of the Islamic Sharia citing the role of King Salman during the three summits held in the Kingdom recently and witnessed participation of the leaders of more than 50 Arabic and Islamic countries together with United States of America represented by its president Donald Trump which was an unprecedented event in the region. He went on to add that King Salman has also created the Saudi-led Coalition to restore hope for the Yemeni people and embodied strength of the Arab and Muslim world in the North Thunder drills adding that he also paid special care for the needy people by establishing the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KS relief).
Dr. Assas has praised King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz for his efforts in serving Islam, supporting Muslim causes and protecting his people. "When King Salman accepts a prize, it is a declaration of honor for the prize itself and a turning point in its history," the UQU president said.
He said: Being the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is enough to bring honor to the whole people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Assas lauded role played by the King to lead the country in providing services for millions of pilgrims who arrive here every year to observe Hajj and Umrah.The President prayed May Allah reward King Salman immensely for his efforts in serving the religion and the people.
