UQU Vice-President Sponsors Field Training Activities Closing Ceremony at Social Work Department

On behalf of Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Yaser bin Suleiman Shosho, UQU Vice-President, sponsored the closing ceremony of the field training activities at the Department of Social Work, the College of Social Sciences. The event was held at al-Jawhara Hall at Al-Zahir-based UQU headquarters in the presence of Dr. Muhammad bin Ahmad Ba Saqr (Dean of the College of Social Sciences), Dr. Naser Al-Zahrani (Head of the Department of Social Work), a number of representatives of governmental and non-governmental bodies from the educational, medical and charitable sectors.

Upon his arrival, the Vice-President inaugurated the exhibition accompanying the field training activities of the Social Work Department and toured the pavilions of the participating parties.

Then the ceremony began with a Qur’anic recitation followed by the speech of Dr. Turki Abul-Alaa, Chairman of the Field Training Committee at the Social Work Department and Vice-Dean of the College of Community Service and Continuous Education for Educational Affairs. Dr. Abul-Alaa illustrated that the field training students were exerting great efforts throughout the year and proved that they were as responsible and honest in their field work with all sincerity and devotion, which contributed to raising the training mechanism. He also appreciated the support and directions of Dr. Muhammad Ba Saqr, Dean of the College, and commended the continuous follow-up of field training work by the Department Head.  

As a result, Dr. Naser Al-Zahrani, Head of the Department of Social Work, stated that the efforts exerted in the field training activities in the Department of Social Work came to coexist with people and touch their needs, especially in the humanitarian aspects needed by society, and therefore all the workers in them deserved thanks and appreciation. Moreover, he pointed out that the impact of all such efforts was reflected positively on the needs of society, in terms of educational, health or social aspects. He also appreciated the support and directions of Dr. Muhammad Ba Saqr, which enabled the Department of Social Work to be distinguished in many domains. In addition, he extended deep thanks and appreciation to all workers in the field training activities.    

In the same context, Dr. Muhammad Ba Saqr stressed that the concept of social work was intertwined in public life, which was found in the university and in many governmental and non-governmental bodies, pointing out that the Department of Social Work graduated every year a large number of participants to serve such aspect. He also appreciated the support and directions of Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, UQU President, as well as the honorable attendance of Dr. Yaser  Shosho, UQU Vice-President, in the event for this year. Besides, he commended the efforts exerted by Dr. Naser Al-Zahrani, Head of the Department of Social Work, and all his colleagues.  

On the other hand, Dr. Yaser Shosho said that such ceremony embodied the partnership of the community university with governmental and non-governmental bodies, especially that a constellation of social work staff members had active contributions in a number of field work aspects in the domain of social work. He also pointed out that the quality of the creative works of field training students at the Department of Social Work was not less than that of the international exhibitions and forums as it worked from the tangible reality of social work. In this regard, UQU Vice-President appreciated the efforts exerted by Dr. Muhammad Ba Saqr, Dr. Naser Al-Zahrani and all the Department’s distinguished staff members to succeed in the field training. He also commended the student work that came out of the field training program.   

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Yaser Shosho honored the partnership bodies from the governmental and private sectors, as well as the members of field training committees.
