UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi launched Ataa Initiative (Giving) for Volunteering Research initiated by the Deanship of Scientific Research in the presence of the Dean of Scientific Research Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Ahdal and CEO of Wadi Makkah Dr. Faisal bin Ahmed Al-Alaf. The launching ceremony took place on Monday Sha'ban 19, 1438 H at the supportive hall of King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall at the university campus in Abdyia for males and Al-Jawhara hall for female.
Meanwhile, Dean of Scientific Research Dr. Al-Ahdal said that "We are very pleased to see pioneers of Atta imitative and partners of success participating in launching the third phase of Atta Initiative for volunteering research which was firstly initiated by the ex-dean of Scientific Research Dr. Faisal Al-Alaf and managed to keep going with the determination of the workers to appear today in the most beautiful outfit and present its valuable outputs. " We endeavor to give much concern to all aspects of volunteering research and support research in this regard through internal and external scholarships", he added, saying that the deanship is very pleased to offer a helping hand and join external bodies in activating and organizing research volunteering.
Within the same vein, UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Thamir Al-Harbi said that volunteering is the work mechanism adopted by the developed countries to link between individuals and organizations in such manner that achieves common interests and promotes loyalty to religion, community and nation. He branded it as a main strategic issue insisted on by the kingdom Vision 2030 which called for increasing numbers of volunteers in non-profit sectors so as to achieve cohesion between citizens and consolidate social responsibility role amongst them to keep pace with the vision and achieve its pioneering themes.
Moreover. Dr. Al-Harbi said that the most important feature of this initiative is that its launched by Umm Al-Qura University the incubator of volunteering work which knows best the real research and volunteering programs needs to serve Makkah and all the kingdom in line with the development integration vision of the Advisor to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques and Emir of Makkah Prince Khalid Al-Faisal. He added that the initiative plays a decisive role in monitoring database for volunteers inside the university,besides encouraging volunteering research services and the inter-researches gathering deanships and colleges in cooperative manner in addition to achieving community partnerships with the public sector and the non-profitable private sector in such manner that serves social responsibility role of the university towards local, regional and international communities.
He further said that Ataa initiative supports specialists and knowledge seekers at all academic levels to present research projects which serve volunteering sector and open scientific and knowledge horizons to them in such manner which achieves high quality research level and confirmed scientific results that can be applied in the real life. Such thing, he said will improve volunteering service in the different sectors and set a clear and institutional scientific mechanism in this regard.
Concluding his speech he lauded support and directives of UQU President as well as the efforts exerted by the Deanship of Scientific Research and all its staff.
