Umm Al-Qura University celebrated the 91st anniversary of the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the hands of its founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Saud (may Allah have mercy on him). The celebration took place virtually under the auspices of the President of the University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab.

The President of the University extended his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud (may Allah safeguard them both), and all the Saudi people on the occasion of the Saudi National Day. He stressed that the celebration of the homeland should be strengthened by activating the concept of true citizenship through sincerity and diligence when performing work, according to the respective responsibilities of each individual in society.

Moreover, the President of the University said that on the unification anniversary every year we renew our loyalty and affiliation to our country and our rational government. We recall the nobility of our past and the prosperity of our present, and we are inspired by them to create a bright future with our determination, contributions, and sincerity. Therefore, true citizenship is manifested in the sincerity of intention regarding what is required of us for the reconstruction of our country and in performing our tasks well, according to the specializations and the position of our work. This is the right of our country upon us in order to be able to celebrate its high status and progress throughout the ages.

In its turn, the General Supervisor of the Museums Administration, Prof. Fahd Al-Maliki, said in his speech that the Saudi forefront position was achieved after the unification of the separate parts of the Arabian Peninsula under the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ever since this time, it has gained prestige and support locally, regionally, and internationally, adopting a wise, firm and deliberate policy that the Founder King pursued. The kings among his sons followed in his footsteps and made his policy a lofty approach in regulating the relationship between societies and states. He emphasized that the National Day expresses the cohesion between the leadership and the people in the most beautiful way.

The ceremony included a patriotic poem entitled, “Our Deep Love for the Homeland”, presented by Tamader Al-Amer, a doctoral student at the College of Arabic Language. It also included congratulatory greetings for the wise leadership (may Allah support it) presented by determined university students with special needs. After that, a number of scholarship students expressed their loyalty and affiliation to the kingdom in terms that described their sincere love for the country of the Two Holy Mosques. Furthermore, scholarship students from the Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers expressed their nostalgia for the kingdom during the distance education period when they were in their home countries. They also appreciated the kingdom's efforts to accommodate them during the coronavirus pandemic and place them in hotels equipped with all safety means to protect them from developing the infection, which clearly showed that it deserved a great position in the hearts of all Muslims.

The ceremony was sponsored by the Pan Kingdom Real Estate Company, and it witnessed the participation of success partners from within the university: the General Administration of Museums, the Deanship of Student Affairs, the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, the Scholarships Office, the Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers, and the College of Arabic Language.
