Umm Al-Qura University represented by the Deanship of Students Affairs wrapped up on Wednesday Sha'ban 7, 1438 H, students activities for the academic year 1437-1438 H under sponsorship of UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas, UQU Vice Presidents, Deans of the Colleges, Students Affairs Dean, Vice Deans and administrative staff, besides students participating in the activities. The ceremony took place at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall at the university campus in Abdyia.
The ceremony commenced with a Quranic recitation, then the Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Taha bin Amro Al-Saggaf delivered speech saying that students programs contribute to boost their capacities, improve their talents, and fill their free time with good things, underlining that such activity is an integral part of his university march for enabling student to highlight his capabilities and talents, besides igniting honest competition and achieving familiarity amongst students.
After that, he reviewed the most important achievements of his deanship including the top positions scored by the university in the games of the Saudi Universities Sports Federation, besides the most important programs carried out by the deanship including; new year students reception program (promising start), How to be a Role Model competition, the 8th Scientific Forum for UQU male and female students, and other activities and events.
He thanked UQU President, UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, all UQU Vice Presidents, Deans of Colleges and Heads of the Departments for their cooperation with the deanship of students affairs in implementing its programs. He also extended his thanks to include male and female Vice Deans of Students Affairs, Deanship employees for their dedicated efforts to serve students in both sections of the university. After that, a national poem by student Moram Al-Nassary was delivered via the closed TV circuit and attracted attention of the audience, to be followed by an operetta titled: " Moving towards greater heights".
Within the same vein, UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs highlighted in his speech the achievements made by the Deanship of Students Affairs during this year including organization of a number of programs and activities which contributed to honing students talents. He lauded the role of the deanship in activating several community initiatives led by "How to be a Role Model" project launched by the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal. He also congratulated UQU Vice Presidency for Business and Innovation for wining Makkah Excellence Award, extending his thanks and appreciation to UQU President Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, UQU Vice College Deans and the Deanship taskforce for their continuous support to all the activities and programs of the Deanship. Then, the audience watched a paly titled (One Hand Can't Clap).
For his part, UQU President Dr. Bakri Assas delivered address in which he lauded the support the university received and still from the wise leadership, follow up of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and backing of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Ieesa. He added that the extracurricular and entertainment activities are essential and complementary parts of the educational process taking place by sponsoring talents, improving capacities and increasing knowledge depending on application and practice. He then extended his thanks and appreciation to UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs, and Dean and Vice Deans of Students Affairs for the keenness interest they are attaching to students by organizing such programs and activities.
Concluding the ceremony, Dr. Assas honored the winners of University "Role Model" Competition, in which student Bassam Al-Manee from the College of Computer and Information Systems, won the first place. Dr. Assas also honored the outstanding students in the students clubs, and bodies cooperating with the Deanship of Students Affairs. After that, Dr. Assas received a memorial gift from the Dean of Students Affairs.
