The Deanship of Library Affairs held a workshop entitled: "The Interactive Platform of the Information Sources", today, Wednesday, 24 Muharram 1443 A.H., corresponding to 1 September 2021 A.C. The workshop, which was held at the training lab at the Deanship of Library Affairs, was directed to the heads of the departments and the vice deans of the colleges for educational affairs. The workshop was also provided online to allow the academic staff members in the colleges outside Makkah, in Al-Leith and Al-Qunfudhah, to attend remotely. The aim of the workshop was to present the initiative of the Deanship of Library Affairs to provide the scientific colleges with interactive e-books.
The Dean of Library Affairs, Prof. Khalid bin Sulaiman Maatouq, opened the workshop and welcomed the audience. He spoke about the advantages of the e-books and their benefits for students, explaining that the e-books allow students to not only read but also watch an explanatory video about the scientific material and then receive assessment questions about the scientific material from the course lecturer to measure the level of the student's perception and understanding. Next, he presented the summary of the library stats and services to students, which gained the praise of the audience.
In her speech, Dr. Najwa Samraqandi welcomed the audience and appreciated the subscriptions of the Deanship of Library Affairs in the information sources, upon the request of the academic staff members, in order to be able to support the scientific research as well as the scientific material and study courses.
After that, the representative of the service provider company gave a detailed presentation about the interactive e-books and listened to the questions of the academic staff members and the interaction with the platform. As result, the Dean of Library Affairs asked the service provide company to offer free subscription for one semester to all the academic staff members and students for them to try these interactive e-books.
At the end of the workshop, the Dean of Library Affairs and all the audience toured the library, and the audience thanked the affiliates of the library for the good reception and the well-organized workshop.
