President of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq bin Bakri Assas launched on Saturday Sha'ban 3, 1438 H events of the 5th scientific forum of rheumatic diseases organized by Chair of Yahiya and Misha'al sons of Sheikh Sorour Al-Zaidi for Research in Rheumatic Diseases at the College of Medicine in Umm Al-Qura University at Crown Plaza Hotel in Jeddah in the presence of the head of the scientific team and supervisor of implementing chairs program, the Associate Professor at the UQU College of Medicine Dr. Hani Al-Moalim, members of the chairs working team, a number of officials and specialist in the field of Arthritis and Rheumatology diseases besides male and female students of the college of medicine in the university.
Upon his arrival to the forum's venue, Dr. Assas and his entourage toured the forum's accompanying exhibition and listened to an elaborate presentation by Dr. Hani Al-Moalim on the activities, programs and scientific researches carried out by the chair and its participations in the local and international conferences in addition to achievements made since the establishment of the chair.
In his speech, Dr. Assas lauded the support received by Umm Al-Qura University and still from the government of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, the follow-up and attention of the Advisor to the Custodian of the Two holy Mosques, Emir of Makkah Prince Khalid Al-Faisal in addition to the follow up of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Iesa and his support to the educational march at the university to place Umm Al-Qura in the rank of the globally advanced universities in accordance with the Kingdom Vision 2030.
In a similar fashion, Dr. Assas praised Yahiya and Misha'al sons of Sheikh Sorour Al-Zaidi for donating this scientific chair, thus reflecting their keenness and attention to standup to their commitment toward such noble work which we are reaping its fruits today, thanks to Allah in the first place and then to the sons of this nation for their significant participation in all community programs and works serving the nation, citizens and humanity equally. He also lauded the scientific and research achievements made by the chair in all fields of fighting against rheumatism and arthritis either through research or early detection of disease and this forum is reckoned one of the scientific achievements to realize the objective sough-after by the chair.
For his part, head of the scientific team and supervisor of implementing chairs program, the Associate Professor at the UQU College of Medicine Dr. Hani Al-Moalim commended sponsorship of UQU President for this forum which serves large number of physicians and specialists in this field. He also extended his thanks to main funders of this chair Yahiya and Misha'al sons of Sheikh Sorour Al-Zaidi for their continuous support provided for the chair.
It should be mentioned here that the forum is organized for the fifth year and includes several workshops and scientific lectures in a scientific manner taking into consideration application of medical education principles. It also provides interactive learning methods together with discussion panels on the treatment of the common rheumatic diseases besides workshops on arthritis and rheumatic diseases, skills of clinical screening. A constellation of consultant physicians and experts in the field of arthritis and rheumatic diseases participated in the workshops and lecturers of the forum.
At the conclusion of the forum, Dr. Assas honored forum's sponsors and the winners of the scientific posters competition where student Aseel Tilal obtained the first position.
