Poetry Competition on the Occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the National Day for the Students of Umm Al-Qura University

About the competition:

Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs, has launched the Best Poem Competition, in collaboration with the College of Arabic Language, in commemoration of the 90th Saudi National Day. The competition is held under the slogan: "Determination till the End", and aims to foster pride in the religion as well as loyalty to the king and the wise leadership, and to express the sense of belonging to the nation.

The Competition terms:

1. The competition is open to male and female students who are currently enrolled in the university.
2. The poem must be free of rhyme errors.
3. The poem must be newly composed by the male or female student. It should not have been previously submitted to any other entity, and must be related to the occasion of the 90th Saudi National Day.
4. The poem must be characterized by creativity.
5. The poem must be composed in the classical Arabic language, and must be free of linguistic, grammatical, and spelling errors.
6. The poem must be submitted in Word document, the font should be Traditional Arabic with a font size of 14 and the paper size should be A4.
7. The student must write the following information on the cover page: poem title, name, university ID number, and college.
8. The poem must not be less than 7 verses and not more than 20 verses for vertical poems, and not more than 30 lines for free-verse poems.
9. The poem must promote the sense of belonging to the country, loyalty to its wise leadership, and pride in its great achievements.

Submission of work:

The poems shall be submitted through the following link (click here) no later than Tuesday, 27 Muharrum, 1442 A.H., corresponding to 15 September, 2020.
