Abstract
The aim of the research is to understand the concept of ontology from a linguistic perspective and its connec-tion to linguistics. The descriptive-analytical method was used to collect material from Al-Hariri's maqamat. The results indicated that ontological metaphor specialized in borrowing specific determiners from nature and semantic mechanisms, which material and entity were specialized in through physical situations that rely on the imagination of the listener in a specific kinetic position contributing to the interpretation of the metaphor. Diagnostic metaphor specialized in borrowing something from humans and attributing it to inanimate objects or abstractions, while maintaining the necessity of metaphor, which is the metaphorical verb attributed figuratively to its non-real agent. Structural metaphor specialized in borrowing something from one domain and attributing it to a different entity, so that what belongs to the borrowing domain automatically attributes to the borrowed entity. The variation of al-Hariri in ontological metaphors of various types was observed, as mentioned above, in a way that enriched the book's content in the field of study, covering all aspects of human life. The ontological aspect did not ignore the literal meaning, in addition to considering its contextual meaning that often deviates from reality, thus highlighting ontological metaphorical relationships.
