Abstract

An observer of modern critical approaches to ancient poetic texts notes that the traditional corpus remains as fragrant as musk; whenever it is stirred, the scent of perfume is released. This is due to the artistic, aesthetic, and semantic value these texts possess, which enables them to be perpetually rejuvenated. Hence the idea of this study, which aims to address a major critical issue: the issue of meaning in our Arab heritage, which stands as the primary cognitive question in the movement of scientific awareness and is one of the most controversial technical issues. This study focuses on the works of one of the most brilliant Arab poets, Abu al-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi, whose poetry has had a profound impact and captivated audiences worldwide. The study seeks to address the problem of meaning from one of its most significant perspectives: poetic procrastination. This concept relates to traditional critical perceptions such as the dialectic of clarity and ambiguity, and the balance of explicitness and vagueness. The study will attempt to classify these patterns, determine their levels, and reveal their presence in Abu al-Tayyib's poetry.
