The statements of the Prophet's Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) are considered the third source of exegesis. Their statements hold a significant position in explaining the meanings of the words of Allah and serve as evidence, whether the Companions agree or differ. This study aims to clarify the ruling on introducing additional statements beyond the Companions' differences in exegesis when their views cannot be reconciled, and to explain the status of their statements and the correct methodology for dealing with their differences. It adopts the inductive descriptive approach by examining the reports of the early generations, the statements of later scholars, and applications of this issue in books of creed and exegesis. The study concludes that this issue appears in books of creed and exegesis. Imam Al-Tabari is among the most prominent exegetes who rejected newly introduced statements that contradict the Companions' statements in particular and those of the early generations in general. The ruling on introducing an additional statement beyond the Companions' differences in exegesis and legal rulings is prohibition, as it entails invalidating their statements and adopting a new statement. The study also emphasizes the importance of following the correct methodology when dealing with irreconcilable differences among the Companions, thereby avoiding religious innovation and departing from their understanding. The study recommends investigating the causes and consequences of departing from the Companions' understanding of exegesis and examining the ruling on departing from irreconcilable differences among the Successors.
