Abstract
The study aims to explain the doctrines of the Imams of criticism in judging the authenticity of the chain of both a reported transmission using "after" and the one using "that" without frank avowal of hearing, informing, or telling, through connectivity or discontinuity. Moreover, the study not only explains the Imams' prerequisites in each chain of transmission to judge the transmission's connectivity but also investigates the attributions of these doctrines to those legally entitled to adopt by studying the practical side of these Imams in accepting the Hadiths or finding them defective . The study is intended to be an applied study on Ibn Abi Hatem Al-Razi's Book Al-cIllal (the Flaws) to understand or grasp the significance of the two Imams' perspectives-that is, Abi Hatem and Abi Zarcah in distinguishing between the reported chain of transmission using "after" and "that". The two Imams differentiated between the reported chain of transmission using "after" and "that" as clearly evident in their attribution of the chain of narrations using "after" as being defective owing to their inclusion from another source with the wording "so-and-so said." This indicates that they both find the chain of transmission using "after" is different from the chain of transmission using "that" in connectivity . The reason for being defective is the non-fulfilment of the narrator's awareness of the story he told as a prerequisite. Had it not achieved the prerequisite of connectivity, the reported Hadith would have been considered "disconnected" except for those Hadiths transmitted by the Companions of the Prophet ; sti the ruling differs regarding the acceptance . Eight places were included in Ibn Abi Hatem Al-Razi's Book Al-clllal, clarifying the methodology of the two Imams: Abi Hatem and Abi Zarcah, in their consideration of the narrator's transmission of the story he told as an additional prerequisite in accepting the chain of transmission using "that" over the chain of transmission using "after".
