Abstract
Research Objectives: Explaining the concept of sanctification among the Jews, highlighting the reason for the Sabbath sanctification, indicating the most prominent manifestations of its sanctification, and the ex-tent of agreement and disagreement among the Jewish sects. Research Approach: I have adopted the descriptive, inductive, and critical method. I investigated Jewish scriptures texts and religious books, then described their nature, after that criticized in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. Study Findings: Sanctification among Jews is the preservation of the divine commandments in general and the Sabbath in particular, that one of the manifestations of the Jews’ sanctification of the Sabbath: taking it as a day of rest from worldly work and making it purely for worship, and inflicting punishment on those who violated its sanctity, the incident of the Jews hunting on the Sabbath was not covered in Jewish books. The Jewish sects differed regarding the permissibly of some worldly activities on the Sabbath.
