Abstract
The study aimed to: identify the degree of social workers’ application of social responsibility (religious and ethical responsibility, personal responsibility, societal responsibility, and national responsibility) in orphan care institutions; explore the main obstacles to social workers’ application of social responsibility in these institutions; examine mechanisms for enhancing the quality of services in orphan care institutions; and determine the relationship between the degree of social workers’ application of social responsibility and the quality improvement of services in orphan care institutions.

The study adopted a descriptive methodology, as it is suitable for the nature of the study, answering its questions, and achieving its objectives. A questionnaire was used as the study tool and was distributed to a sample of male and female employees in orphan care institutions in the Makkah region, with (37) fully completed questionnaires returned.

The study reached the following results:

1. The degree of social workers' application of social responsibility dimensions in orphan care institutions was found to be very high, with a mean score of (4.64).

2. The degree of obstacles to social workers' application of social responsibility in orphan care institutions was found to be agreeable, with a mean score of (3.61).

3. The degree of mechanisms for enhancing the quality of services in orphan care institutions was found to be very high, with a mean score of (4.57).

4. There was no statistically significant relationship between the degree of social workers' application of social responsibility or any of its dimensions and the overall quality improvement of services in orphan care institutions, as all significance levels were greater than (0.05).

The study recommends establishing special departments or units for social responsibility in orphan care institutions, and educating the local community about the social responsibility of orphan care institutions.
