Artificial intelligence revolution in stroke care from the perspective of Saudi healthcare professionals: The AISurvey

     From : - 2023/12/12 م , To : - 2025/05/29 م

Introduction

Management of stroke patients highly depends on information from imaging software. Despite stroke system-optimization efforts, activation of interhospital communication for triage, and transport to a thrombectomy center can be operationally challenging. The need for rapid pre-hospital triage, early emergent detection, accurate diagnosis, and timely treatment has promoted the increasing application of artificial intelligence (AI) in stroke care and research.

What might AI technology help in stroke?

Recent studies showed that the advances of AI in stroke have accelerated practice in individualized therapy and precision medicine via the enhancement of early emergent detection, accurate diagnosis, and timely treatment. However, its practical uses in patients with stroke, or at risk for stroke, prompts further investigation in Saudi Arabia (SA).

What is it you want to survey?

This study aims to explore the views of HPs on their awareness of the benefits and barriers preventing the use of AI in stroke caregiving. Ultimately, gaining clarity in this regard will help with the design of a clinical trial that meets the needs of and is acceptable to stroke survivors.

Is there any downiness?

To complete this survey, there are no right or wrong answers. You do not need in-depth knowledge on AI use in stroke, questions are primarily about your perception and experience. Your responses will be confidential and will not be identified by an individual. This study protocol was approved by the Scientific Research Ethics Committee at the College of Medicine, Umm Al-Qura university (UQU). The Institutional Review Board number: HAPO-02-K-012-2022-04-1054.

How can I help?

We kindly ask you to fill out this survey as soon as you are able, to ensure that your views will be adequately represented to help us make recommendations to serve as an evidence base for works exchange with stakeholders and policymakers.

What if I have questions about it?

AI is not currently used for stroke caregiving in SA, so you are not missing out on any recommended technologies. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding this research, feel free to contact the principal investigator Dr. Hala Azhari at [email protected].

Who is leading the study?

The study is being led by researchers and stroke doctors at the UQU. The principal investigator is Dr. Hala Azhari.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Hala Azhari
