The Unit is tasked with monitoring air quality in Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites to assess air pollutants and their health impacts and to link between air quality and sources of pollution and air factors, besides assessing air interactions to reach scientific recommendations necessary for setting indicators of air quality and safe boundaries. That all is aimed at maintaining health of pilgrims and visitors and setting up database for sound environmental planning.
