The Secretary General of Saudi Universities Sports Federation Dr. Abdullah Al Bogami crowned UQU Varsity with Saudi inter-university athletics championship in its seventh round, hosted by Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Damam, on Thursday, Jumada Al-Thani 24th, 1438 A.H.
The tournament was held in Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium, Rakkah, Eastern Province, with the participation of 18 universities contesting in 20 athletic games. Umm al-Qura University won the trophy and gold medals scoring (192) points. Jazan University captured the place and silver medals with (157) points, while King Saud University won the third place and bronze medals scoring (122) points.
From his part, Dean of Students Affairs Dr. Amr Al-Saqaf congratulated the technical and administrative team of UQU Varsity for this achievement, applauding their high ranks in the tournament, crowned by winning the first place across all Saudi Universities. Dr. extended his deep appreciation to UQU President Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas, Vice-President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Srouji for unlimited support to the Deanship of Students Affairs translated into such achievement.
Vice-Dean for Students Activities and Training Dr. Omar Sunbol noted that UQU Varsity was prepared very early by the technical and administrative team for this tournament, by organizing an internal tournament in the university as well as a camp for participating athletes. "We put them under the necessary medical checks and provided them with several training courses to secure the desired goal, to win the tournament's trophy, which they have done.", added Dr. Sunbol.
Vice-dean of Student Affairs in Al-Qunfudah and supervisor of UQU Athletics Varsity Dr. Mastour Al Faqeeh said; "The tournament lasted for two days and witnessed tough competition between our varsity and Jazan University varsity."
