The Institute of Consulting Research and Studies at Umm Al-Qura University has resumed the implementation of professional development programs that end up with employment. These programs are carried out in partnership with the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), which is related to occupational safety and health, in implementation of the ministerial decision regarding the employment of occupational safety and health professions in large and small enterprises.
The Occupational Safety and Health Program offered by the SAFE Center for Safety, Risk, and Crisis Management at the Institute of Consulting Research and Studies aims at developing the necessary skills and expertise among the practitioners of different professions to enable them to perform their duties effectively and achieve the competency standard desired by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in accordance with the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) in the field of occupational safety and health.
The program includes five units consisting of (198) training hours in the system and management of occupational safety and health, occupational safety and health risk management, occupational health and safety audits and inspections, and accidents and incidents. This is in addition to two units about occupational safety and health culture, and a glossary of terminology. The number of trainees has reached (30) trainees, so far.
The Dean of the Institute of Consulting Research and Studies, Dr. Ali Al-Sha`iri, explained that the institute seeks to support human cadres in a way that qualifies them for the labor market by providing them with advisory services, programs and professional diplomas in partnership with the relevant public and private departments. The programs provided by the SAFE Center come as a fertile source for providing national human expertise that supports the rehabilitative and professional process in the field of safety and health. Finally, he highlighted the support and guidance offered by the University President, Prof. Moaddi Aal Madh-hab, to the consulting services of the institute.
