On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Head of UQU Council, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad bin Hamad Aal Al-Sheikh, the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, today, during a videoconference, chaired the third session of the University Council for the academic year 1442 A.H.

The UQU President welcomed all the attendees, their excellencies the honorable members of the council, and the Secretary General of the Council of Universities Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh. He also welcomed all new members who joined the University Council recently, and extended sincere thanks and appreciation to all the members whose term of membership in the council had expired.

The Secretary General and member of the University Council, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, explained that the council discussed a number of issues, stressing that appropriate decisions have been taken about them. This was according to the following:

• A request for the approval of adopting a memorandum of understanding between the university, represented by the College of Nursing, and Taibah University.
• A request for the approval of adopting a memorandum of understanding between Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Community Service and Continuing Education, and the Social Development Bank (SDB).
• A request to approve the membership of a number of faculty members in the Council of Al-Qunfudhah University College for a period of two years.
• A request to approve the addition of the Dean of Faculty and Staff Affairs to the Standing Committee for Teaching Assistants, Lecturers, Language Instructors and Research Assistants. A request to approve the addition of new members of the academic staff to the Permanent Committee of Scholarships and Training.
• A request to approve the finance of the project of furnishing and equipping laboratories in the scientific departments at Jamoum University College from the University Education Fund.
• A request for the approval of the establishment of a Research Chair for Correctional Alternatives.
• Studying and discussing many academic, educational and administrative topics related to many scientific and educational aspects, for which appropriate decisions and recommendations were made.
