Al-Faisal Launches the ‘Learn Arabic’ Initiative for Non-Native Speakers

The advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Governor of Makkah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, at the emirate’s headquarters in Jeddah today, inaugurated the initiative entitled, ‘Learn Arabic’, for non-native speakers, in the presence of the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Moaddi bin Muhammad Aal Madh-hab, the Dean of the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, Dr. Hassan bin Abdul-Hamid Bukhari, and the Chief Executive Officer of Wadi Makkah for Technology, Dr. Faisal Allaf.

The ‘Learn Arabic’ initiative adopted by Umm Al-Qura University, through its various programs and solutions, seeks to facilitate ways to learn the Arabic language and simplify its sciences to non-native speakers in a way that promotes a positive outlook of the Arabic language. Moreover, the basic aim of the initiative is to spread innovative solutions and high-quality specialized language products to non-native speakers.

Prince Khaled Al-Faisal was informed of the initiative’s goals, which included strengthening the Arabic language at the local and international levels, making its presence felt on social media, supporting relevant institutions and providing awareness programs in the field of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, and organizing events that support the teaching of the Arabic language and its dissemination to non-native speakers.

The Governor of Makkah region was briefed on the implementation plan of the ‘Learn Arabic’ initiative, which will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will mark the launch of the initiative, which involves establishing committees, reviewing and approving regulations, activating social media platforms, producing publications and organizing activities, creating partnership models and plans, attracting 15 international ambassadors for the initiative, and building a plan for conferences and events.

The second phase will be implemented by evaluating the initiative’s performance on social media platforms and developing content, attracting strategic partners for the initiative, as well as increasing the number of ambassadors to 40. In the final phase, public forums will be held along with 3 specialized seminars to evaluate the progress of the third phase. The phase will also involve evaluating the initiative’s performance on social media platforms, assessing existing partnerships and attracting strategic partners, increasing the number of ambassadors to 60, and implementing public forums, a specialized workshop, and conferences.
