The College of Education, represented by the Department of Islamic and Comparative Education, has launched the first Student Council for postgraduate students. The aim of the council is to provide enrichment activities and educational programs that contribute to building values and knowledge among university students and developing their skills in various fields.
The Head of the Department of Islamic Education and Comparative Studies at the university, Dr. Fahd Al-Qahtani, pointed out that the mission of the council focuses on enabling postgraduate students to actively participate in the scientific and research fields as well as enriching activities. It also aims at developing their personal and social skills in order to promote students' affiliation to the department and the university, and support the development initiatives that the university launches to serve the community.
On her part, the Deputy Head of the Department, Dr. Sarah Al-Mutairi, said that the postgraduate students actively participated in writing the guidebook for the Student Council, which consisted of seven chapters covering twenty-three articles that aim at organizing the work of the council. This guide is considered to be the reference in the formation of the council, as it is based on the student's rights and duties bylaws at Umm Al-Qura University.
The event was attended by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Saeed, the Acting Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Al-Unud Mahdar, the Vice Dean of the College of Education for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdullah Al-Tamim, and the Vice Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Busainah Al-Ghamdi.
