An academic staff member in the Media Department at the university, Dr. Faisal Al-Shimairi, stressed the importance of the role played by the media in spreading societal awareness among individuals and how it supports the success of the Saudi National Vision 2030 to form one of the major components of social life of the Saudi citizen in the coming decades.
This took place during an interactive workshop organized by the master's stage students in the Media Department, entitled: “Meaningful Media Highlighting the Saudi Vision 2030” as part of the department's ‘virtual’ cultural and scientific activity.
Dr. Al-Shimairi said that the workshop focused on six main themes, which included: the role of the media in promoting tourism in Makkah, the role of the media in supporting the program of serving the pilgrims, the importance of the media in achieving justice strategies, and its role in cybersecurity. This was in addition to the importance of the media in education as well as its importance in creating diverse and comprehensive sport.
Moreover, he indicated that these themes are related to the role of meaningful media in highlighting this vision, and the participation of community members and their contribution to its success by informing them of the contents of all its goals and the stages of the national projects that have been achieved.
The participants in the workshop dealt with a review of the most prominent roles of media in introducing national tourism, noting that the kingdom possesses multiple tourism and cultural potentials, being a crossroad of human civilizations. It currently includes about ten thousand heritage and cultural sites.
Finally, the role of the media in defining cyber security was emphasized, as well as its role in diversifying the means of communication that increased the speed of communication and the transfer of information, and in raising the awareness of the society to maintain information security. The role of media in creating a diverse and comprehensive sport was also stressed, changing previous ideas about media for it to become a stand-alone industry.
