Umm Al-Qura Wins the ‘Best Scientific Paper’ During the Conference of Heads and Supervisors of Scientific Departments in the Kingdom

Two staff members at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Khaled Al-Sulaimi and Dr. Khuloud Al-Yussuf, won the "Best Scientific Paper" in the First Scientific Conference of Heads and Supervisors of Scientific Departments held at King Abdulaziz University, at the level of Saudi universities.

The scientific paper is entitled: "The Role of Scientific Departments in Saudi Universities in Achieving the Saudi Vision 2030", which passed the end of program standard test by achieving first place among competing scientific papers in the Saudi Kingdom. The Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Conference, Dr. Abdul-Moneim Al-Hayani, after the end of the nominations, announced the victory of Umm Al-Qura University researchers, and congratulated them on their scientific excellence and knowledge enrichment during the closing session of the conference.

The paper reveals the role of the scientific departments in Saudi universities and the most important challenges they face. It also highlights the great role played by the scientific departments in promoting the fields of the Saudi Vision 2030, such as transforming to a "vital community", achieving a "thriving economy", in addition to the "Ambitious Homeland" theme. The study encourages academic staff members to regenerate their research energies, and promotes meeting the needs of future jobs for the people of the nation.

Moreover, Dr. Khaled Al-Sulaimi, Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Planning, stated that the paper falls under the theme of "Alignment with the Labor Market", and achieves the sought-after goals of the Saudi Vision 2030. It also aims to fill the needs of the labor market with specialized personnel and energies, and make a balance between educational outcomes and career fields after graduation.

On her part, Dr. Khuloud Al-Yussuf, Associate Professor of Educational Administration and Planning, stated that the conference reinforces the active role played by the scientific departments in achieving the quality of the educational output, and moves the wheel of national development by activating the role of universities for the growth of the knowledge and economic sector. It also promotes the optimal investment of the capabilities of the kingdom's young men and women.

It is noteworthy that King Abdulaziz University is the university which organized the first scientific conference. It sheds light on the role of scientific departments in Saudi universities to achieve the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 through several themes: such as alignment with the labor market, the quality of the educational process, capacity investment, research and innovation, in addition to leadership and self-development.
