Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, on Thursday, 19 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1442 A.H., hosted the Eighth Meeting of the Deans of E-Learning and Distance Education Committee in Saudi Universities under the auspices of the UQU President, Prof. Moaddi Aal Madh-hab, and in the presence of the General Supervisor of the University Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ahmad Babalghaith. The meeting was held in King Faisal Hall at Al-Abdiyyah Campus.
The Dean of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Khalid Al-Mutairi, in his welcome speech, presented the university’s success in the transformation process to distance education from the moment the decision was made to continue the educational process electronically. He also highlighted the deanship's plans to organize the work mechanism to serve the university sectors and its employees, in addition to offering continuous technical support 24 hours a day.
The committee meeting began its eighth session headed by Dr. Hisham Bardissi. During the meeting, the deans explained the universities' efforts to achieve a complete electronic transformation, reviewed the recommendations of the previous meeting, and came up with new recommendations to enhance the quality of distance education in Saudi universities.
The meeting of the dean's committee aimed to exchange experience between the e-learning deanships in different Saudi universities and to learn about successful experiences and practices in implementing projects and in continuously evaluating problems facing distance education in the Saudi Kingdom, as well as suggesting appropriate solutions. The coordination of efforts and cooperation in joint technical, academic and administrative issues were also discussed.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Babalghith honored the participants from the kingdom's universities, wishing them good luck in their efforts to draw up recommendations that contribute to the success of the future of distance education in Saudi Arabia.
