The Deanship of the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, represented by the Institute's Vice Deanship for Training, on Wednesday, 11 Rabi` Al-Awwal, launched the first season of the program "Open Cultural Forum", remotely. The aim of the forum is to discusses a number of important topics in applied linguistics and the teaching and learning of Arabic as a second language.
His Excellency the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Hasan bin Abdul-Hamid Bukhari, said that the institute seeks to upgrade the skills of its members and affiliates. It also seeks to encourage them to provide their expertise for the sake of serving science and society and striving for excellence in providing programs for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. His Excellency the Vice Dean for Training of the Arabic Language Institute, Dr. Ayman bin Ahmad Al-Mansouri, said that the forum's topics will be presented by a group of academic staff members at the institute. He added that the forum opens the door for those interested and specialized in learning and teaching Arabic as a second language. This is for them to share scientific and practical experience and promote knowledge and cultural exchange by studying important academic issues in learning and teaching languages. He went on saying that this forum constitutes the beginning of a number of training and development programs that the Vice Deanship for Training is preparing to set up in the coming period. Such a step aims to achieve the institute's lofty message in serving the Arabic language and facilitating its learning and teaching.
The forum intends to provide a stimulating environment for learning and education, and improve quality through the continuous development of the skills of staff members in Arabic language institutes. Moreover, it aims to encourage qualitative scientific research in the field of applied linguistic studies, and utilize the results of relevant research to improve programs for learning and teaching the Arabic language.
