The Department of English is pleased to announce the publication of a paper entitled 'Holden Caulfield and Borderline Personality Disorder' by Ms. Dalal Turki Alsharif, Lecturer of English Literature at the Department. The paper was published in King Faisal University's Academic Jorunal: vol 22, issue 1, (2020).
The paper endeavors to study a literary character in the light of medical humanities. It establishes an assumption that Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of J. D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye (1951), has borderline personality disorder. Interpersonal, affective, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms are examined in addition to the environmental factors leading to this psychological condition.
