The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research at Umm Al-Qura University announced three technical projects as winners within the initiative to "Virtually Enrich the Religious Experience in the Hajj and Umrah System". The initiative was launched by the institute, in collaboration with the UQU Vice Presidency for Female Student Affairs, to provide ideas and solutions that serve the pilgrims of the House of Allah.
The first project included the development of an application dedicated to historical guidance for the landmarks of Makkah and Madinah, in order to enrich the Arabic content with the cultural features of the two regions, using technical means. The second project included ideas for developing and re-appointing locational Miqats using augmented reality applications. The aim is to convey the experience to the pilgrim in a way that highlights the identity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The third project also deals with activating historical events technically and simulating the documentary reality that connects the visitor to the city, educating him on the history and civilization of the region, in a way that contributes to supporting domestic tourism of the Saudi Kingdom.
The Vice President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah Al-Khuli, alluded to the holiness of the place and the honor of the neighborhood surrounding the university, which made the university a pioneer by harnessing its knowledge potential and scientific expertise in the service of the guests of the Most Merciful and the visitors of the Sacred House of Allah and by providing scientific research and technical programs in this field. Her Excellency emphasized the importance of the participation of university employees and students to enrich the religious experience and to contribute to achieving the university's strategic plans and national goals in various development programs.
The Vice President of the University congratulated the winners of the first three projects, considering these projects a nucleus for other similar projects carried out by the university employees. Such projects will contribute to strengthening the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its interest in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors.
Dr. Al-Khuli thanked the administrations and entities that have contributed to the success of this initiative and its activities, which resulted in the production of technical projects that serve the pilgrims of the Holy Land.
On her part, the Vice Dean of the Institute, Dr. Sumayyah Hariri, stated that the initiative included 17 virtual projects and applications, that involved the participation of 13 colleges and 15 academic departments at the university. An electronic form was used by university employees, including female academic staff members, employees, and students, who participated in the projects and outputs to enrich the religious experience.
After announcing the results of the initiative, the University Vice President for Female Student Affairs honored the ladies who carried out the projects that won the first three places, in the presence of the Vice Dean of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research, Dr. Sumayyah Hariri. The jury, assistants of the university vice president, and the General Administration for Institutional Communication were also honored.
