The words flowed out and the sweetest verses were sung on the "National Day" … The "gathering" pledged to protect territories and pay the souls as a sacrifice, so that the "homeland" would remain lofty with its fluttering flags ... The "gathering" also made a covenant and a charter for our leaders, and pledged allegiance to them that they would assume their obligations.
With these meanings, His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, started Umm Al-Qura University's celebration in a speech he made via its virtual platform, on the 90th anniversary of the National Day. In the presence of the university leaders and employees from the academic and administrative staff, and the male and female students, His Excellency the UQU President expressed the feelings of the Saudi citizen on this glorious day, while reviewing the "homeland" progress throughout ninety years of unification. He also touched on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's achievements, thanks to Allah first and foremost, and then due to the wisdom of its leadership, and the social advancement and development renaissance it witnessed, while taking care of the human in the first place, building the territory, and constructing the infrastructure.
His Excellency praised the pioneering and leading role of the kingdom, which made it a pivotal country with influence on world decision-making and international organizations.
His Excellency highlighted the kingdom's efforts and its ability to overcome difficulties and crises, the role of its wise leadership in gathering the Muslims together and uniting their ranks, and the sacrifices it has made in the service of the Saudi citizen, in order to enjoy an environment of security, safety, and prosperity. His Excellency pointed out the qualitative leaps the kingdom has made on the political and economic arenas, in addition to consolidating the digital infrastructure and investing in the minds and capabilities of young personnel and national energies.
The ceremony included a speech by the General Supervisor of the University Museums Administration, Prof. Fahd Al-Malki, entitled, "The Historical Dimension of Our Glorious National Day". During the ceremony, His Excellency the President of the University inaugurated the special issue of Manar Al-Jamiaa Magazine for the 90th National Day.
On its part, the University Vice Presidency for Female Student Affairs provided an overview of the university female leaders who have played pioneering roles in serving the nation, and have assumed many leadership and administrative positions inside and outside the university.
His Excellency the President of the University also inaugurated the national initiatives of the College of Community Service and Continuing Education, and the student initiative, "My Specialty Serves My Country". The Media Center participated by presenting a lyrical operetta on the occasion of 90th National Day. The ceremony was concluded with the announcement of the results of the winners of the UQU Sweetest Poem and Artistic Work, the Top Three Tweets, and the Best National Initiative contests.
