The event was attended by His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, and the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini.
The workshop discussed the most prominent research areas in the field, the proposed projects, and ways to activate the role of entities operating in the field of orphan care. Moreover, it reviewed the latest studies on integrating orphans into social life, and addressed the key behavioral problems in care homes. The latest research in the field of private human resources and the field of education and professional practice for orphans were also discussed.
During the workshop, the Chair Professor, Dr. Khalid Barqawi, emphasized the importance of attracting administrative competencies in the field of orphan care and their psycho-social rehabilitation to gain self-confidence and knowledge, as well as the need to assign care to the creative talents among orphans and develop their skills. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of conducting studies to measure the impact of professional practices and the extent to which they achieve their objectives.
On his part, His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University highlighted the university's aim to become a beacon in the field of charity and humanitarian work. He also emphasized the university's keenness to reap the fruits of this workshop by studying the important topics related to the affairs of orphans, and to contribute to developing the orphans' abilities to serve the Saudi community.
It is noteworthy that the academic chair aims to promote the field of orphan care in the Saudi Kingdom, conduct scientific research and studies, and provide various scientific services in relation to this precious segment of the society, of whom our noble Prophet (peace be upon him) urged to take care. The chair intends to achieve such goals following scientific standards that ensure the provision of a proper social upbringing for the orphans.
