A Student at the College of Judicial Studies and Regulations at Umm Al-Qura University, Turki Muhammad Al-Harthi, detected security vulnerabilities in the university website within his initiative to protect the data of the website users and maintain the privacy of their information.
The General Supervisor of the Cyber Security Administration, Dr. Sultan Al-Mutiri, appreciated the student's efforts and his contribution to reporting the vulnerabilities. He referred to the importance of the cooperation of the university students and affiliates in reporting any security vulnerabilities affecting the university security and privacy.
On his part, Turki Al-Harthi, a member of the cyber security club in the university, said that learning skills to detect security vulnerabilities contributed to qualifying and preparing him to serve this educational edifice and protect the systems and the affiliates' data, adding that he learnt these skills through his participation in the workshops and programs organized by the club in cooperation with the colleges and institutes in the field of cyber security. He also referred to his participation abroad and his obtaining membership in the initiative of the Ministry of Education and the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security, Programming, and Drones (SAFCSP).
