Today, Wednesday, 14 Muharram 1442 A.H., the UQU Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research organized a training workshop for the members of the Academic Council who recently joined its new session. The workshop, which was held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Makkah, focused on the tasks related to the work of the council.
The workshop discussed the main tasks of the council and its transactions, such as sabbatical and academic attachment, early retirement, appointments, resignation, promotions, as well as secondment and transfer.
Moreover, it dealt with the transaction workflow for the members of the council, the mechanism for examining the referred transactions related to promotion, the mechanism of selecting referees, and the criteria for accepting peer-reviewed scientific journals.
The UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul Wahab Al-Resini, stated that the council’s duties are based on examining transactions, reviewing the reports of the peer-reviewers, preparing detailed reports on the peer-reviewing notes, making sure of the promotion points and the statutory period of the applicants, examining the publishing channels and if they meet the necessary conditions, in addition to adhering to the time standard allocated for each referred transaction.
On his part, the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, stated in his speech that the council plays a major role in the scientific movement at the university, and works to develop the methods and approaches of the research and scientific studies in a way that achieves supreme national interest. Finally, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah urged everyone to be particular to attend to the academic affairs of the academic staff members and similar staff, stressing the principle of achieving justice and equality among all affiliates, in line with the laws and regulations stipulated in this regard.
